Items in My Kitchen That I Can’t Live Without
I’ve discovered that having the right tools can make all the difference in my kitchen experience. Here are some items I can’t live without:
1. Masking Tape & a Permanent Marker
You might be surprised to see this duo on my list, but they’re essential. I use masking tape and a Sharpie for labeling ingredients, containers, and leftovers. It helps me keep everything organized and eliminates the dreaded “Uhhh… is this still good?” If you’re worried about forgetting to take the labels off when it comes time to wash the containers, they have these dissolvable food labels on Amazon.
Parchment paper is a kitchen staple that I use for baking, roasting, and storing food. I use it for the obvious reasons like keeping my baking sheets clean and preventing sticking, but I mostly use it to keep fresh-washed produce like lettuce, herbs, berries and cucumbers fresher longer in the fridge. I line the bottom of a container with the paper and throw my washed produce on top. Most of the moisture is then absorbed by the paper and the food stays fresher longer!
3. A HIGH QUALITY Chef Knife
I can't stress enough how important it is to have a quality knife that feels comfortable in your hand. Chef knives come in all shapes and sizes. If it’s a kitchen tool that you use as much as I do, it’s worth the investment.
A sharp knife not only makes cooking easier, but it’s actually safer. Using a dull knife requires more force to cut through food, increasing the risk of slipping and causing cuts or injuries. Keep your knife sharp for safer and more precise cuts.
My Ninja blender is a powerhouse in my kitchen. Smoothies, sauces and dips, dough - it all with ease. It’s powerful, easy to clean and a great long-term investment for your kitchen.
Cooking meat to the perfect temperature is essential for both flavor and food safety. Take the guesswork and stress out of cooking your meat.
A fantastic tool for adding fresh flavor to your dishes. It’s perfect for grating cheese, zesting citrus, or even finely grating garlic and ginger.
These have been a game changer for me. I like to store the dressings or sauces that I make in mason jars in the fridge and these plastic lids are much easier to store and clean than the traditional metal lids. Note: these cannot be used for canning.
I use a lot of lemon and lime juice for my recipes, and this thing does the trick every time. I can easily press down to squeeze the juice out and it’s strained into a small dish below. There’s even a pour spout and measuring lines for added convenience.
Don’t be fooled these are not just for doughs and pastries. I use this all the time to easily transfer my chopped veggies to a pan or bowl.
